Description:
A short documentary that explores the issue of child labor in the small-scale gold mines of the Philippines. Photographer and photojournalist Larry C. Price was granted rare access to remote jungle regions where children and teenagers have risked their lives to extract and process gold ore for generations.

Estimates by the International Labour Organization predict more than 12,000 children in the Philippines toil in small-scale gold mines working the gold-rich earth to extract gold ore. Children are involved in all aspects of the dangerous mining activities including working deep underground and around lethal chemicals. Child labor is technically against the law but with the rising price of gold, officials often look the other way.
